These courses have been developed and successfully presented to help land administration personnel deepen both their experience and knowledge base. During each two-day class, the participants will journey through hands-on training to follow the oil and gas lease from acquisition, to maintenance, to drilling, to completion. Thorough examinations are made of the body of the lease, its clauses, covenants, rentals, shut-in payments and problems related to the proper preservation of the lease.
Through instruction and interactive participation, participants will experience a variety of topics critical for the success of land administration including several hours dedicated to the calculation of various types of units; examining burdens, NRI’s, GWIs, Operating Agreements and title opinions.
Since the workshops are designed to provide practical job-oriented training, participants should bring a simple calculator.
I attended your class around June or July. After your class I landed a D.O. position and am working on completing my 1st year which will arrive in August. Just for future information, I started my new position as a permanent employee in the low $60’s with little more knowledge than your class. It has been a struggle, I’ll admit, but so far, through the grace of God I have made it with your class training, no 10 key experience, limited typing skills and no College degree – at 53 years of age! The guy I ended up working with I met at your class, I wonder who opened that door?
I attended the Workshop last week in Tulsa, which again was absolutely the best format and seminar I have attended in my 30 years in this industry.
I want to let you know that the two workshops I attended were very informational and have increased my level of knowledge in the industry. As a result, I am one step closer in realizing my goal to sit for the CPLTA exam. For that I am very thankful to you.
I just wanted to drop you an email and tell you how much we enjoyed the workshop in Tulsa. Everyone that attended the advanced course with me really gained a lot from it and thought it was the best educational program we had been to. Those attending the fundamentals course reported back to me today that it was very useful and they were going to be able to take the knowledge they gained and apply it to their work here at the bank. Thanks again for offering this course to us, and for teaching it in a manner that was hands on, and that kept us all involved throughout the workshop. It was outstanding.
Farmouts and Pooling have always been somewhat of a mystery to me. Great class and fun too.
Just a quick update. I was promoted from DO Tech to DO Analyst a couple of months after completing the workshop.
Of all the workshops I have taken over the years, this is the best! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the Work Shop you gave in Tulsa Oklahoma. It was very enjoyable and informative and never a dull moment which was great for learning.
Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the Fundamentals and Beyond class. You did a great job teaching and I really walked away with a better understand and more knowledge of what I’m meant to be doing.
I am so glad you brought up the issues revolving around mineral deeds or conveyances that transfer “undivided” instead of just “transfer 35% of all of my interest”… I told my supervisor and it was determined that NOT all of us are correctly transferring interest. My boss was so glad that I questioned it… and will make sure we are ALL on the same page.. as half of our staff in Land .. is NEW.
I wanted you to know how much I appreciated the time you took with me at the workshop. As a retired high school teacher, give yourself a “Gold Star” for the job you did. You not only gave important information that I could understand and use, but you did it with a wonderful delivery style that was interesting and held my attention. Thank you very much and I look forward to other classes instructed by you.
On-Line Class: I have finished the first three lessons and found them to be very detailed and informative. The information in these lessons have already proven very valuable in my day to day dealings with our owners, and the documentation they have provided, especially the differences in the language of the deeds and assignments, mineral interest and royalty ownerships. I truly look forward to reading and completing more of the lessons.
On-line class – Comprehensive Study on Oil & Gas Lease – “This course was great. I really wish I had some of this information when I was put out in the field last summer. Everything I had learned to this point in my career has come from shadowing other landmen in the field, and although that experience was great, it was less than thorough …… every chapter through this course helped me fill in the gaps of things I was never taught and build a solid working knowledge as far as the leasing process goes. In short this course was a blast, and I am definitely going to recommend it to some of the younger people I know who are interested in the O&G business.
On-line class – A Comprehensive Study on the Oil & Gas Lease – This class is very informative and allows the student to go forward at their own pace and concentrate on areas that may require more attention. The textbook matched the online text and quizzes and the information was very easy to follow. The examples were excellent. The quizzes at the end of each chapter are a great aspect to this class. They provide a way for the student to gage their knowledge of the chapter and require further focus on the material. There are some state specific items included in the course that may not be of immediate use for an analyst, but will generate an elevated thought process and be an excellent resource for future referral. I think the class definitely has advantages over the traditional classroom environment. In my opinion, the course covers information that you cannot go over enough as a new analyst. This class is a great tool for bringing the picture into focus.
On-line Class: “I just got started on the Property and Ownership class. The 1st 2 chapters have been very good and my employees and I have referred to the book on several occasions.
On-line class, “Property Ownership and Transferring Title” So far I am really enjoying this class. I am currently in the middle of Chapter 5 and have had no problems at all. I am having a good time with this course. I have recommended this class to my brother who is graduating from CSU this summer; he too is interested in the O&G business. Thanks.
I appreciate how exceptionally well you explained the information and the patience and humor you exhibited during our fundamental class this week. I got so much knowledge on quite a few things I have been fuzzy on. I still have a lot to learn and practice, but you were very instrumental in helping on the correct path that I have been struggling with. When I master the fundamentals, I look forward to taking the advanced class – you are a wonderful instructor.
Well, I thought you might like to know the update! I have accepted a position at El Paso in Houston as Sr. Landman!!!! I am so excited and I KNOW that the PLM Certificate that I earned as taught by you helped me to achieve this milestone in my career. I have told many of my fellow Landmen about your University of Houston Downtown PLM courses and some of them have started, some have signed up and some plan to in the future. ‘Keep on keeping on’ educating and making us better Landmen. Thank you for everything.
