PLM Certificate Program

The PLM Certificate is the result of the ongoing partnership between the University of Houston Downton – College of Business, Oklahoma Community College – Meinders School of Business and Petroleum Education Workshops.

FLEXIBLE PROGRAM

Two PLM courses are offered every month, one online and one face-to-face. You can choose either type, or combine both delivery methods to suit your preferences, work schedule or other considerations. Courses can be taken in any order and you can begin with any course.

RELEVANT LEARNING

Successful completion of each PLM course will qualify for 12 recertification hours for RL, RPL, and CPL designations with the American Association of Professional Landmen, 12 recertification hours with National Association of Lease and Title Analysts, and 17 recertification hours with National Association of Division Order Analysts. These competency-based courses are also excellent review for the certification exams offered by these organizations.

PROVEN RESULTS

Since 2010, UHD has awarded the PLM Certificate to nearly 1100 professionals and many more have successfully completed at least three courses. The program has increased salary and improved career opportunities for division order analysts, landmen, lease administrators, field brokers, lease and title analysts, GIS specialists, attorneys and other professionals interested in understanding the PLM field.

The Advanced Petroleum Land Management (APLM) Certificate program at UHD employs a competency-based and hands-on curriculum developed through active collaboration between the College of Business (COB) and Petroleum Education Workshops, the premier educational and training center for oil and gas personnel. INDUSTRY DEMANDS DEEPER AND BROADER PLM KNOWLEDGE

According to a recent survey, 50 percent of UHD PLM students who completed all required courses in 2013 believe they would benefit from more advanced PLM courses, including the use of geographic information systems (GIS) in land management. This opinion is widely supported by industry experts. There is a need for professionals with a deep understanding of the legal aspects of the PLM field and their practical implications:

• State-specific legal concepts of ownership
• Common provisions of the oil and gas lease
• Restrictive covenant and title standards
• New environmental regulations created by legislation, court decisions and governmental agencies
